Best way to build a website or get one built?

I need a website for a gaming community I'm starting and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on either building it myself, or having someone else build it for me.

There are several options online for developing a website. Really just depends on your knowledge, and how much detail you want to learn (like using html code). CoffeeCup Software is very easy to use. I use the Visual Site Designer because it does not require any programming background. You can upload your website to their free hosting service but you are not limited to them. Since it is a desktop program you have complete ownership of the content and can use your website with any hosting provider or use your own server.

If your website is to function in an especially unique way definitely hire a web programmer to make it for you. You can find some good ones on odesk.com or elance.com. But keep in mind it's not going to be cheap to hire a web developer to do anything. You site could easily cost many thousands of dollars.

If on the other hand you just need a standard brochure site, blog, or forum, there's simply no need to pay this much money. Anyone can make their own website today with a high quality website builder. Website builders are online software that allow non-programmers to make professional looking sites by dragging and dropping the various elements of a web page into place. They cost about $5 a month.

The choice is yours. Good luck.

Website builders are a great way to get a website done fairly quickly. Some are more flexible that others and some are easier to use that others.

The one I like the best is http://www.talkspot.com/ because of its flexibility. You can use the website building tools and content management system as well as access and edit the html and css directly.
