iPhone 5 or Samsung galaxy s4?
Ok so basically I'm upgrading my iPhone 4S in the next few weeks so I'm tied between the johns 5 or the Samsung galaxy s4. Clearly they're the two best phones on the market but I can't decide which would be best, I've had an iPhone for the last 3/4 years so I may i want a change but that could be bad if I don't like the Samsung. Which is the better phone? I use it for Internet texting really... Please help! Btw when's the iPhone 5s out?

This is why I believe that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is better than the iPhone 5
1. It is quicker (1.9 quad core processor/ 1.6ghz Octa core vs 1.3 dual core processor)
2. Microsd- you can expand the memory with a 64gb microsd. This a cheaper way to expand your memory and you can have a 16 gb S4 and still have more storage than iphone 5 if you get a 64gb microsd.
3. USB OTG- you can read usb keys no problem with an adapter so you can check out whats on them so you don't have to put your computer on.
4. Microusb charger- Better than the lighting connector as you can get them http://easi.ly/ and cheaply but also you might have it from other devices as it is becoming standard for smartphones to use microusb chargers.
5. Removable battery- This means you can replace the battery if you run out of charge when you are around unlike the iphone 5 which you have to charge or bring an external charger and charge it from there, however this is an awkward way of charging your phone. Also the removable battery can help you prevent water damage as you can remove the battery if it falls in water, thus reducing the chances of water damage.
6. NFC- Want to transfer a music album quicker than bluetooth, well now you can with NFC. You can also use Tectiles 2 to make your life easier
7. Customizable- Change launcher(Are you bored, get a new launcher that suits you and your personality), custom ROM your phone and have access to apps specifically made for rooted devices directly on the play store. You control the device so that it suits you.
8. Dropbox- Love cloud storage well Samsung is offering 50gb free of charge to S3 owners for 2 years on Dropbox. Backup music, video, photos(this can be done automatically), documents etc. Who doesn’t want this amount of free cloud storage?(You have to complete a certain amount of steps to get the free storage but none requires any credit card details or anything to complicated) (N.B Not everyone will be offered this bonus as carriers have been known to have stopped Samsung from offering this to customers)
9. Screen- It’s bigger but not to big. It has 441ppi vs iPhone5’s 326ppi plus the Amoled screen creates beautiful colors.
I also found no problems when using one hand, and I have medium hands if not small hands.
10. LED indicator- A small LED on the top of your device shows what notifications you got by distinguishing them with colours(For example blue for email, green for charged) This means you can see what the notification was about without putting your screen on. It is extremely useful feature for those than hate wasting time.
11. Android features-Widgets, live wallpapers, Google Now and all the beauty of android, widgets on the lockscreen etc
12. Samsung added features
a. Smartstay- won't turn the screen off if you are still looking at it.
b. Smartpause- pauses a video when you turn around and turns it back on when you turn back
c. Eye controlled webpage scrolling
d. Airview- check link to learn more http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S-4-...
e. Infrared TV remote
f. External temperature and humidity sensors
g. Use the phone while using gloves
h. S Health- useful for health enthusiasts
i. S Translator- it’s all in the name a translator
j. Blocking Mode- activate it to block things like calls, notifications, messages, LED indicator etc
k. Power Saving Mode- Can be used to save power by limiting the processor speeds, turning of Haptic feedback, using less power for the screen and changing the color in the stock browser and email app
l. Home screen modes- for beginners it makes the home screen setup easier
m. Etc- I could go on but check the link to see even more features http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S4-1...
13. Camera- It has a 13mp camera vs iPhone 5’s 8mp. It has more features than than the iPhone’s camera which makes it even better.
a. Dual shot- take photos from both cameras so that you can include the photographer in a photo
b. Photo with audio message- record a message before or after a photo to add to a photo
c. Eraser shot- can remove unwanted moving content
d. Drama shot- takes pictures of a moving object and puts the moving object through the whole picture
e. More but those are the best
14. Multitasking- watch videos while online, write an email while watching a video, send a message while surfing the web, you can split the screen in two so you can multitask without a bother, this cannot be done on the iPhone 5.
15. Durability- The S4 does not suffer from scratches like the iphone 5 where the back of the phone is aluminium and scratches really easy, the S4 does not suffer this fate.

Hope this helped
Enjoy your new phone (no matter which one it is)

Correction one of the best phones on the market
There are far superior phones nearer the S IV before the IPHONE5 even joins the list
1) Everyone recommends the IP5 and NEVER mentions the price. iPhone prices / tariffs on any all networks defy logic and gravity
2) Slick advertising does NOT mention this http://finance.yahoo.com/news/8-things-the-iphone-...
THREE as "3" was just too short note merit)
The Samsung Galaxy S II (2)was released in MAY 2011 & has 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor with an 8Mp camera.
18 months later November 2012 Apple puts a 12Ghz Dual Core processor & 8Mp camera in a phone and call it the IP5
4) iPhones play catch up what is on an iPhone came out months before on other makes. Eg the iPhone4 was the FIRST iPhone to have a camera flash yeah 2010 .
A total of 9 things are missing as ALL IPHONES do NOT have BLUETOOTH MEDIA TRANSFER! so NO sharing SGS II 9 MORE, SGS III 9 MORE S IV 9 MORE,
Your current phone does not even match the SGS II , the IP5 NOW has the same innards as the SGS II. IP5 and S IV side by side ONLY in the store which sells both
The IP5S released anytime within the next 3 to 4 months it being an S will be a tweak so still Dual Core IMO the other IP5S will NOT surpass the BB Z10

I highly recommend the Galaxy S4. It is so much more advanced than the iPhone 5. I have a Galaxy S2. My friend has an iPhone 5. We switched phones for a few days & I thought the iPhone was boring. On the other hand, he thought my S2 was great. And that's only the 2. The 3 & 4 are even greater! He says his next upgrade he'll be getting a Galaxy S phone.
As for the iPhone 5S or 6 - Typically Apple launches the next iPhone model in Fall of every year, usually Sept. or Oct. So expect it in Fall 2013.

Get the S4. Brand new compared to the 7 month old iphone 5. Im in the same boat as you and I've decided the switch to andriod is better.

S4 is great, but unless you see any samsung features that you really want, the HTC One is great too since it has much better build quality, speakers, and a slightly smaller screen which may help since you're coming from a 4s. The s4 will prob have an extended battery by morphie (they made one for the s3). It would make it thicker but with much longer battery life. I think a longer battery life is sexier than a slim body. (Sex appeal vs. stamina)

I have an S3, and am very happy with it. Both phones you are looking at are excellent phones, but if you are familiar with the IOS environment then that's what I'd stick with.
If I was upgrading I'd go for the S4, you would probably be happier with the Iphone 5.

Like everybody has said get the S4. the iphone 5 is gonna be eaxctly like that of the 4s and you will get very bored with it. so please s4 for the win
