How common or uncommon is the name Valtyr in Sweden?
Valtyr is an Old Norse name more common in Iceland than Scandinavian countries.
However, Iceland and Sweden are first-cousins so they're all family.
If an ethnic Swedish boy (100% Swedish blood) would be named Valtyr in today's Sweden would that be a little weird?
What about Old Swedish places/towns/counties within Sweden like Dalarna? Would it be more common to find Old Swedish names like Valtyr in Dalarna?

Very uncommon. More common with Walter or Valter. I don't think it would be considered weird. Swedes are pretty laid back and open minded, also when it comes to names.
I don't think you will find more Valtyrs (or old swedish names) in Dalarna. I think the choice of an old name more has to do with the parents personality, than a matter of region/town.
