Hip pain from walking 40 miles?

I walked 40 miles a week ago for the Avon breast cancer walk. 7 days later there is a pain from my hip that goes to my knee. I am also limping. Is this just a sore hip or could there be injury. Should I bother going to the doctors

There was likely only soreness/inflammation that would and should come from that sort of haul, and you have probably accidentally created some tendinitis by favoring it. The only real way to fix tendinitis is to do something similar to what caused the injury but with much, much less intensity and concentration on form. Stretching thoroughly before bed will do an immense amount of good.

Your doctor may be able to give you a short term prescription antiinflamatory that could help it heal or even a cortisone injection if it's bad enough.

Most people complain of hip pain when walking, running, changing position while on bed and even while sitting still for sometime. They suffer from the problem almost on a daily basis. There can be a number of reasons behind pain in the hips. A right diagnosis of the cause is a must for proper evaluation and treatment of hip pain. If you want to know more about bone health and related injuries, there are articles that I bumped into at http://carenaglines.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/the-p... that may be of great help to you.
