Is Dagon in the public domain?
Is H.P. Lovecraft's Dagon in the public domain? I kind of want to make an animation of the short story and put it on youtube. I think it's public domain, but I'm not sure.

Yes, Dagon (1917) and all of Lovecraft's own fiction is in the public domain.

This might be a tricky one. You can do several searches. Some of them might be time consuming. HPL did his work so recently (in copyright terms) that it's possible that his works might not be in the public domain.
Things you can try are, List of short fiction in the public domain, supernatural fiction in the public domain, and other searches as the occur to you. Copyright issues are sort of frustrating.
Another thing you can try is to read an entry on HPL and at the very bottom you will probably find a number of external links. I wish I could be of better assistance. I, too am a fan.
It's possible that if the works are still held by his estate you might get permission to do your project. I wish you luck.
