The screen of my laptop is broken, but I really need a file?

Is there any way I can get to that file, I suppose the hard drive isn't damaged, but I have no idea how to do that then. If anyone could explain how I should do that, I would be very thankful. I don't know much about computers, so please explain clearly.

Easiest way is to connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV. The other way is to take out the hard drive (it's usually very easy) and put it into an external hard drive enclosure (those cost about $10 - $15). Then you can connect your hard drive like an external usb drive and see all the files on a different computer.

    Hope this helps!

Try a different monitor (You may have to press 'Fn + another 'F' key (possibly F4) to transfer the image).

    Or

Remove the drive and place it into either a SATA USB docking station* or an external SATA hard drive enclosure**

You can then connect it to another computer to retrieve your files.

    For P/ATA/IDE drives...

Be sure to get the correct size docking station/enclosure: Laptop = 2.5 inch.

NOTE: Most laptops will have 1-2 screws holding the drive in. Removing these screw/s will enable the drive to be pulled from the machine.
