Obamacare charges $695 fine for those who don't buy health insurance.........?
and supposedly, only people under 30 can opt for a "catastrophic" insurance option.
So for those over 30..........
if they are healthy and have no pre-existing conditions.........
which option makes more sense:
A. Buy comprehensive health insurance as required by law.
B. Buy catastrophic insurance, pay $695, and pay out-of-pocket for any surpise expenses and physicals.
A or B?

sounds like a tax increase to me.
Didn't Obama promise not to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year>?

An adult who does not have health insurance by 2014 would be penalized $95 or 1 percent of income, whichever is greater, so long as the amount does not exceed the price tag of a basic health plan. But by 2016, the penalty increases to $695 for an uninsured adult, and up to $2,085 per household, or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater.
Catastrophic insurance has a high deductible and does not cover everything. You cant buy catastrophic insurance for $695 for the whole year.
These "catastrophic" illness plans would make insurance less of a financial burden, but they would require high deductibles — at least $5,950 in out-of-pocket spending before most benefits kicked in.

Catastrophic Insurance Candidates
Catastrophic insurance is most popular with the self-employed, those whose jobs do not offer health plans, people with a lower income who are looking for a health care safety net, and healthy adults with low medical needs. The ideal customer for this type of insurance would be a healthy person with few or no monthly prescriptions who doesn't visit a doctor on a regular basis. The older generation that purchases catastrophic insurance does so to limit their financial liability should they have a serious event like a stroke or a heart attack. Also, traditional health insurance is often unaffordable for older people -- if they even qualify for it.
However, trying to minimize health care costs by buying a catastrophic plan could work against you. If you have monthly medical expenses, like prescription drugs or supplies for a chronic condition, this kind of plan won't be of much use to you.

Under the present system of Obama care, the fine is a terrible idea, but necessary, in order not to allow those who refuse to get coverage to rip off the rest of the people.
The real solution, which neither Obama nor most Democrats support is Single Payer Coverage. The Dems are afraid of the GOP and that's the reason they won't implement it
Hope this helps

Its either $695 or 2% whichever is greater.
If you buy the insurance then at least you have coverage. If you pay the fine then you've got nothing for that money

That fine is ONLY for THIS year. It goes up each year after that and becomes impossible to pay. And the fine comes out of any tax refund you're due. Once the fine goes over your refund amount, you get to see the tax lien on your bank account. Oh, by the way, I bet if you check you'll find that the $695 fine also accrues interest and penalties just like past due income taxes that aren't paid do.

It's so awesome seeing conservatives training people how to lie and cheat ACA, to hurt the system that could benefit millions of Americans.
Real class acts Fox News and Rush Limbaugh are.

I guess a person could roll the dice and take their chances, especially when health insurance (for me) is running $330 a month (more than double what it was before obamacare) and aside form the occasional physical, I have not been to a doctor in 30 years. .

I can't afford either.
Right now, a $695 fine would be leave me with like $100 at the end of the month.

whichever one is cheaper-there was talk about some middle class having it easier early on by not buying and paying the penalty-I think it is better to have coverage in the first place just in case

A - paying out of pocket is why America does not do well in healthcare comparisons.
