Are there long term health risks from eating raw eggs once?

I want to make candied flowers for decorations for a cake, but they say to use egg whites. I don't want to purchase powdered egg whites because I have no idea where I would even get them, and I don't have any transportation at the moment. If I just use a light brushing of the whipped raw egg white, is it going to cause long term health risks? I know that repeated exposure to raw egg can be very harmful, but would just once do me in?

Also, what is the likelihood of getting salmonella from a raw egg white? I know that it's likely, but if I gently wash the outside that will help. What else can I do to prevent it?
