Coffee, tea, or Bonox?

Meagan (the woman from unit three) tried Bonox for the first time today, she loves it & swears it's better than coffee or tea.

Do you reckon it is?

Do still have some at home next to the Vegemite?

What hot beverages might you you indulge in, coffee tea or ?

Regwah, the first time I tried Bonox was in Sydney, the lady from next door used to check n me when I was sick with te flu. She brewed that stuff up for me, and I didn't mind it actually, but I mainly drink tea. On the way to work or on the way home, I stop in at Tim Horton's and get a coffee.

I do have vegemite over here which is sent to me from Australia, and only have it on toast, I'm hoked on that stuff.

Here is a little bit of added trivia for you Reg, not everyone here has a taste for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I think it's gross.................

  • I'm very fond of coffee in the morning and tea (either green or black chai) throughout the day. I also like non caffeinated chai and cranberry tea for fluid retention.

My go to medicinal soup (and do not judge folks) is Lipton's chicken noodle in a pouch. When I feel like crap this could be supped all day.

I'd never heard of Bonox before tonight. We don't use Vegemite here in Canada either but you can buy Marmite if you search hard and long.

Mum brought us up with the teapot always nestled on top of the kettle to keep it warm. Those days it was tea leaves, bags coming in later. The recipe was, one spoonful of leaves for each person and one for the pot. Naturally, after adding the boiling water it had to steep for at least 5 minutes. With the teapot on top of the kettle the steam from the boiled water kept it all nice and hot.

Coffee we didn't drink much of back in the 60's and 70's but I must admit I enjoy a cup now. But hot, not the tepid muck you get served in the cafes. Why does it take so long to get a take away coffee theses days and you go to drink it and it is barely luke warm? Never tried Bonox Reg, will get around to it one day.

    Lotsa ''TUITS'' to do actually.

Dandelion Root tea (coffee) black no sweetener.

Green, roasted twig or Genmai (brown rice) Japanese teas straight from the pot.

And I'll agree with the miso soup. Even a spoonful of a good quality miso in a cup of hot water is far nicer, and healthier than (yech) Bonox.

    ps. Beef... ?

I always thought it was made from boiled up footy socks.......

Reg, being a mere British mortal, I've never heard of Bonox ... until now, that is, thanks to Google. This product is probably the Australian equivalent of something available here under the brand name of Bovril. I'm a vegetarian ... and a kosher vegetarian to boot ... so these are both products I'll never be tasting. I drink mostly tea but also decaff coffee, with the occasional fennel tea, mint tea or anything that smells fruity ... but definitely not Earl Grey tea (which is like drinking perfume). Ok, I'm done.

Reg, I know that you and meagan have been together

for quite some time, but I fear you have to rethink this

    relationship.

There is not, nor ought there be, a drink so

exalted on the face of God's great earth, than

    the "Prince of Beverages" COFFEE.

Reg,I haven't had Bonox since I was a very small child, but I have seen it recently in Woolworths and thought about buying a bottle. You may just have decided for me! I have either tea or coffee each morning & only one cup per day.I cannot picture drinking Bonox at breakfast though, more a lunchtime thing.

Edit: Sipping my Earl Grey as I type.

Haven't had bonox since childhood Reg. Coffee, tea or miso.

With this 'orrible weather a cuppa soup sounds good.

well I have never tried the Bonox and have no inclination to try it and in fact had to google to find out what it was... beef extract... no thanks

always have vegemite in the house best on toast with lots of butter as in REAL butter

I am a coffee afficionado to the max (no instant anything in my home)

the best "fair trade" beans then grind then a stove top italian style espresso maker

then heat and whoosh organic whole milk and pre heat a white china mug

pouring into a cold mug just doesn't do it...!!!

Definitely coffee, but I'm not a fussy aficionado - 43 beans per cup is fine with me (although if you're offering a nice soy latte I wouldn't say no). Bonox is loaded with salt and not vegetarian; if I want something savoury I'll have some miso soup.
