What are some books everyone should read in high school?
I'm 16 and I'm doing a written report on books everyone should read in high school. I want to mix modern with classic novels. What were some of your favorites? Please choose books you liked, not required reading.

This is a mix of classic and contemporary novels. I believe every one of these books has a reason to be included.
(SA)=Stand Alone Novels
(SE)=Series
1.The Perks of Being A Wallflower (SA) Classic High School coming of age story.
2. Divergent (SE) Dystopian novel, very easy to picture our future heading in this direction. Similar to the hunger games.
3. A Thousand Splendid Suns (SE) Realistic Fiction/Set in middle east, shows you an unfair life.
4. The Art of Racing in the Rain (SA) Realistic Fiction, dog's point of view, life lessons are learned
5. Twelfth Night (SA) Classic Comedy by William Shakespeare, what the movie she's the man is based on
6. Harry Potter (SE) Fanastical novel... considered to be a "Contemporary Classic" everyone in the world should read this series
7. Twilight (SE) Paranormal romance. Controversial novel, some people love it, others hate it.
8. Lovely, Dark and Deep (SA) Realistic fiction set in today's world. Shows how life can be cruel and beautiful and how we come out of our darkest times.
9. A Tale of Two Cities (SA) Classic by Charles Dickens. The two countries are England and France. It's similar to Les Miserables but shorter. A beautiful story if you can get past the first two parts.
10. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (SA) Contemporary comedy play. Based on Shakespeare. It's really funny.
11. Spring Awakening (SA) Set in a historical time, but has themes that are timeless. This book has been turned into a musical. It is a favorite story amongst teenagers as it's themes are extraordinarily relatable.
12. Pretty Little Liars (SE) Contemporary Fiction/Murder Mystery. Set in today's world and gives you a really interesting perspective as to how one's lives can be ruined by secrets and social media.
13. The Fault In Our Stars (SA) Contemporary Fiction/Romance. Has to do with cancer. Very sad, but very beautiful.
14. The Diary of Anne Frank (SA) Nonfiction. It is about a teenaged girl in the holocaust. Everyone should read it. She wrote in such a beautiful way.

Honestly, I am not a fan of classics.
I think if technology and basically our world can change and modernize I think we should also.
But, if you want to know the 2 books I like that are classics are To Kill a Mockingbird and Romeo and Juliet.
I think you should add in the popular books The Hunger Games, Harry Potter.
My favorites?
I love Nicholas Sparks books and random teen romance. I am very into the fantasy and supernatural stuff.
The Vampire Diaries
I just started the Morganville vampires yesterday... 100 pages in haha
I also like Sarah Dessen but not as much.
I don't really remember names im sorry
