Is my broken laptop monitor replaceable?
Hey everyone. My laptop's screen broke recently, but the way it broke was a little strange, and before I go buying a new screen, I wanted to see if anyone thought the screen was replaceable or if the damage goes deeper.
So the way the screen broke was that the hinge broke off on the screen's end(Picture 1). Eventually, the corner of the plastic thing bordering the screen popped out a little(Picture 2). Then one day I tried to close the screen and something around the hinge area resisted, making a cracking sound. Immediately, a thick black line that looked like a crack but was on the image on the screen, not the screen itself, appeared. Over time, the "crack" started spreading and eventually the entire monitor blacked out, and now it permanently looks like it's turned off. The physical screen itself is perfectly smooth with no problems.
So what do you guys think? If I buy a screen and get a computer store to replace it, will the problem be fixed? Or is the screen itself not the problem? For the time being, let's ignore the price of the screen and repair, I want to see if it's possible first.

It appears as though you dropped the laptop on the corner where the hinge is damaged.
You did not include a good picture of the actual screen.
Possible problems:
The cable running through the broken hinge is damaged. This will cause the screen to black out.
Connections to the screen is damaged.
Cannot tell from your pictures if the actual screen is damaged.
Instead of purchasing a screen and taking your laptop to a repair depot for them to replace the screen.
Just take your laptop to the repair depot and have the give you an estimate on the cost to repair everything damaged. Make sure they list all the parts and costs.
If you do not have the laptop repaired, there will ba a charge for the estimate; as they must take the laptop apart to see exactly what is damaged and requires replacing.
The screen may not be damaged but be prepared to have to replace the screen as well.
