Am I too old to still be listening to Heavy Metal?

As a teenager I was a heavy metal "dude" and though I listened to many kinds of music as I was growing up, Rock and Metal music kindda stuck with me. Ok I know Rock is ok for all ages.. ha ha but is it normal to still listen to Slayer, Sodom and Sepultura???? ("m now 38 y. old - woman)

I'm an English teacher and my students think I'm cool!! But do you think it's lame?

I know that I won't stop listening to my music but sometimes I feel weird.. everybody else is busy raising their children while I'm .... listening to metal? Of course I listen to many many other rock groups and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin etc.

Update:

Hey Dick, who said I can't have children? This has nothing to do with my question mate!!

I'm a 49 year old, I listen to Heavy Metal. I am a programmer and a father of 3 children. My kids love the fact that they listen to the same bands as dear old dad, and can shred better than they can. Now you want something heavy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYifvPwH2Z4 Acid King will melt your face.

    I'm 33. Still love metal.

    Food for thought:

The guys in Slayer, Sodom, and Sepultura are all older than you. If they can still PLAY metal, why can't you still listen to it? (Igor Cavalera is the youngest member of any of those bands, he is 42)

well I'll try to go over different logical situations using myself as an example.

If I really like pop music, then age won't affect if i listen to it or not.

If I like pop music obsessively, then I might let pop music get in the way of my normal life

If I liked pop music at a certain time, but not any more, then I will move onto my newest favorite genre

If I like or liked pop music, but feel like it's getting in the way of my normal life, then i should move on from it.

So that's 4 situations I could come up with. You are an adult, so you should understand the importance of directing "YOUR" life, and not trying to fit someone "ELSE'S" standards.

If you really like metal, i don't see the problem with continuing to like it.

A lot of people way older than you still listen to metal.

  • There is no age limit on what music you like. You can like heavy metal when you're a toddler or when you're in a nursing home.

i dont get why listening to metal hinders you from having children. did you get your balls kicked so hard in a pit that you are infertile now?

    edit:

well you said "everybody else is busy raising their children while I'm .... listening to metal". I dont see why the music you listen to should affect other aspects of your life. If you like metal, then listen to it, end of story. I dont see why there is an age limit.
