Well, you can't really. If they had reason enough to bring you to trial they had reason enough to arrest you. Literally forget about it, you have no way of winning on this point. There was cause for the arrest if there was enough evidence for a trial to proceed. And mental anguish? Really? pfft.

My hatred for the legislations aside (and it is sturdy for many causes), the overall argument opposed to the legislations is that it mandates that everybody purchase assurance and extra critically will penalize them in the event that they do no longer. automobile assurance is not any longer the comparable in that no longer everybody is compelled to force in the event that they do no longer desire to. if you do no longer force, you don't may want to pay automobile assurance. comparable with taxes, when you have not were given an profit, you don't may want to pay profit tax. Now, Virginia is truly unique in that it these days surpassed a state regulation prohibiting this way of mandate. So in Virginia's case for the federal regulation to take supremacy (as in accordance to the supremacy clause) the federal courts may may want to verify notwithstanding if or no longer the mandate is constitutional. the diverse 13 states are arguing that the federal authorities is placing an better monetary burden upon them which they can not accommodate. some states could have an better $3 billion in expenses added about by this legislations. All this in a time the position faculties are being closed and workers are being laid off in droves by way of inability of state money. this is why these 14 states (and optimistically quickly extra) are suing the federal authorities.

You need to consult a personal injury lawyer who specializes in suing for law enforcement agencies.
Keep in mind that a verdict of not guilty doesn't mean that you were innocent. It only means that the DA didn't have enough evidence to convict you.
Opening yourself up to a civil lawsuit against the police (the burden of proof are less stringent in civil than criminal cases), they may prove that you were indeed guilty as charged.
Take care
