Why is she making me question my culture?!!! WHAT would you do in my situation, HELP?! please read description?

I am American i do not understand all the grammatical functions of English. I do not know all the slang and swear words such as a "Dub" (twenty dollars) or "Inverted Starfish". Just because you don't now everything about the language you spea or the history doesn't mean you aren't one of them.

Did you ask yourself why is she doing this? I think she is embarrassed with her heritage and tries to direct the eventual racism of others towards you. Just look at you: you are the perfect target you don't know very well somali, yet your parents are somali and speak somali. And don't seem to be confident with your personality since she could make you question and that's a big plus. And she's gonna be doing this forever, unless she would get herself comfortable with her ancestors. She needs toacknowledgee that nobody in US is a real american unless you are from Palo Alto, if you know what I mean.

What makes you want to be an american, or japanese, or brazilian or romanian or whatever. Do you need to put a "proud to be somali" bumper sticker on your car when you get older? Proudness of something shouldn't be something you get by birth. That's an accident. Proudness should be for things you accomplished, you worked for, things that seemed impossible, yet you overcome these obstacles, like you will do with this unstable girl.

Tell me, does she seem like she really has things under control? The uncertain people mime this.

On the other hand: what makes you a real somali? Knowing the language, knowing the habbits of somali? That's part of the culture. If you want to be a somali go get the somali culture. But if not, you don't have to.

Go be whatever you want to be and don't forget your heritage. That is important: you don't need to be a somali or an american. You will be whatever is comfortable for you. And if anyone would judge you for this fuuuuck them for being stupid racist cunnnts.

Bullying and rumors.. seems to me like you have a serious _bitc,h_ on your hands.... Don't antagonize the situation just because you don't speak the slang she speaks. Retaliation will not solve anything and will just make your life worse in this case because it seems as if she controls the class. Ignore her for now. When the next unit comes perhaps you could show her off that you really do know your own culture. I would do what I am advising you. You are a better person for not knowing that swear word, keep your head up and move on... :)

not all somalis speak Somali language.

Culture is not based on genetics, it's about where you were born and/or raised. My ancestry is from somewhere in Eastern Europe, but I was born and raised in California, so that's my culture.
