Traveling to Saudi Arabia as a single woman?

Traveling to Saudi Arabia as a single woman?

I want to go to Saudi Arabia but I am a bit nervous. What's it like traveling as a single woman tourist in Saudi Arabia? Is it scary? Do I have to wear a cover like the local women do? I know that women cant travel alone in Saudi Arabia can I have a brother or cousin to travel with me? I am also non White. Will this be an issue? How do Saudi men act with women? I know that Saudi Arabia is gender segregated but still. Can the women look at men at all? If a cute guy is looking at me will I be arrested for smiling and waving back at him? I know dating is forbidden there but is this ok? Whats it like? I also plan on learning Arabic soon. Please help! :( Thanks! :)

You will need a mahram to travel there. Most of the time they will reject women travelling by themselves for no valid reason.

@mar - Because it is home to the most religious place for Muslims? You idiot.

Uhm, I've never been to KSA but I know that it depends on the region you're in, like the most strict places would be Mecca and Almadina, but outside it will be less strict.

Your colour won't be a problem, Saudis are not milky white.

Waving...hmm to think that there is someone monitoring everyone's moves and looks is a bit absurd and impossible lol

Gender segregation is in facilities, institutions..and so on, you can practice whatever you want but not with men and you can't drive.

Why do you wanna travel there btw? You could choose a different country if it is for the sake of learning Arabic, come to my country ;P

I have a friend living in KSA I'll ask him more when I talk to him and edit my post if the question is still open by then.

@NK96 but the asker is not Muslim, she is Christian.

I don't think it's allowed. They probably won't even let you board the plane without a male companion, who is either a husband or a male relative. So you would probably have to call the airport and ask if it's even permissible to travel there alone, I'm pretty sure they don't allow that. They probably don't wave at strangers, and if you act weird they might arrest or scold you. If your not even remotely Arabic I don't know why you would want to go there.

    1. No woman in their right mind would consider going there.

    2. They do not issue tourist visas.
