What is a municipal law enforcement agency?

are they just the police in your city? would the sheriff officers be in that category as well?

Yes I mean Sheriff deputy's not officers.

    Municipal is city by Definition.

    Yes, they are the police in your city (a Municipality). No, they are not sheriff officers (there is no such thing, it would be a "deputy") as they are COUNTY, and not city. Unless, as is sometimes the case, a small town hires sheriff as their police department.

    The municipal law agency is the city police provided that the city is incorporated and has the tax base to support it.

    If the officer is sworn in, then the title doesn't matter (police officer, sheriffs deputy and even correctional officer but the C.O. in many jurisdictions are peace officers, not police officers.
