Photoshop question HELP?
Okay, so I don't know what happened, because photoshop was working perfectly yesterday. But for some reason, today this started happening:
All of this occurs in one layer. I paint one color (say, white), and then go to blend with a new color (lets say black), but that new color won't paint over the old one. I can see the black underneath the white color, but it won't paint over it. So, rather tediously, I have to create a new layer in order to paint over it. I don't know what happened!
Any advice?
It's on the top layer :(

Have you tried starting over with a new document, and using the "Reset all tools" command?

Resetting preferences (described in same link) may also help with odd problems.
Sounds to me like you have some unusual layer blending mode, such as Difference or Exclusion. This might accidentally get changed by using the scroll wheel immediately after picking a blending mode.
You might also have set the tool blending mode to "Behind", which adds color only to transparent pixels.

Perhaps in the right hand side where it has all the layers drag the white coloured layer to the top of the list? then your page or work space(whichever you like to call it) will be white? i am assuming you're using paint bucket to? and also on separate layers?
