Agh! What's with all the scum bags trying to sell puppies at 3-4 weeks?!?

Seriously???!!! I was just on Craigslist and my

Local classifieds.. I called a few people because I am wanting a Pit Bull puppy next month.. I called 4, and all of them told their puppies are 3 or 4 weeks old., when I asked of they'll be ready in the middle/end of June.. Their response "no, they are ready now to pick up!.. When do you want to come?" I am shocked and disgusted. One guy sent me a youtube video of the litter from

3 days ago.. They are tiny!!! And nursing off the mother which is to be expected at that age..he told me, "they still nurse..but they are also eating food with milk mixed in,or can food".. I told him I wanna wait till 6-8 weeks and his response was "den don waist my time.. I ain't holding them and by 6-8 weeks they'll b gone sorry".. The other 2 guys with their litters acted pretty much the same way!!!! One of them said he breeds Akita's and German shepherds as well, and he sent me a picture of him bottle feeding one of the pit bulls.. When I asked if the mother isn't around his response was... "She's fine.. I separate them from the mother at 3 weeks to let get get a break because she is starting to look so skinny, so I take over and bottle feed the puppies until they sell.. You can come take a puppy now, they are good to go as long as you bottle feed her".

Getting rid of puppies at 3 weeks is inhumane and dead wrong!! I seriously wanna have these people reported! Should I call them back and ask for their address and act like I'm going over to take one, then have animal control investigate them?

I'm beyond mad and sad for the welfare for these litters of puppies and the mothers.

I'm sorry, but WHAT DO YOU EXPECT when working with Craigslist caliber "breeders"? They're only in it for the money or because they are too ignorant to confine a dog while she's in heat!

DO NOT BUY from such breeders, EVER. Real breeder are not on CL, you find a REAL breeder through national/regional breed clubs or local training clubs and groups. If you want a bargain puppy, there are thousands upon thousands of Pitties of equal or better quality to the CL pups available at your local shelter - http://www.petfinder.com/ - if you want a pup that is actually purebred, well-bred, healthy, stable, etc, then you need to go find a REPUTABLE breeder and be willing to PAY FOR that quality.

ADD: You already have one crap-bred pittie puppy per your previous questions. NEVER try to raise two puppies at once. Get your little mongrel off to a great start, when he is about a year old, fully house trained, and has his basic obedience and manners down, then you can THINK about another puppy.

See, veterinarians are experts on animal health and a few don't bother learning much about behavior. And the seller is correct in that health-wise, 4 weeks for an orphaned pup is probably OK. So, a vet may well have said it would be safe for them to go to new homes then. BUT, behavior-wise, the pups really need to stay together as a litter for four more weeks or new homes are likely to experience issues with poor social skills, mouthiness, separation anxiety when older, etc. You may not be able to do anything about it, unless your state has laws against selling puppies that age (and quite a few do). Add: States where sale of pups under 8 weeks is prohibited by law, law applies to all persons unless I indicated otherwise: Arizona (for 'dealers'), California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois (dealer or kennel operator), Indiana, Kansas (retail breeder), Maryland, Massachusetts (commercial saler), Michigan (pet shop), Missouri, Nebraska, New York (dealer), Ohio, Pennsylvania. Maine and Virgina prohibit sale by any person of any puppy under 7 weeks of age. Some counties or cities will also have laws regarding age of puppies when sold.

Fact. Only BYBs and other breeders who are just in it for the money use that kind of website. Sadly the only thing that can be done about this is EDUCATE, EDUCATE and more EDUCATE the buying public to stay away from this kind of website/breeder. BYBs want the maximum return for the minimum amount of work and cost to them and once these puppies start to eat solids, their costs do increase and any profit drops. Sadly while there are gulible people out there, and no laws to prevent this from happening, it will continue to happen.

Just make sure YOU don't buy from such a person - is about all you can do.

Can the authorities stop this kind of breeding (of course I know it's illegal to sell puppies of under 8 weeks in some places but ....... ?)

With a lot of breeders its about getting them pregnant and making money. If they take the baby away early the mother will dry up and get pregnant again faster than if she was to wean them and everything happened naturally. Its all about the money. If you have texts or emails that show what these people are doing then I would call them back to get an address and see what can be done. This is definitely wrong. If they are as young as you say they barely even got their eyes open WOW!

Craig's list is the outlet for most lowlife bybs..that's a fact. And while selling before 8 weeks may be against the law(I have yet to see it on the books) I've never seen anyone get in trouble with animal control for doing it.

And as long as their are stupid, lazy greedy owners out there, graig's list will be busy. You can flag their ads since no breeders are allowed.

Who gives a rat's patooty. They're Craigslist POS Pit Bulls. Buy yourself a 3 day old Chia pet instead.

NEVER buy from craigslist, EVER. They sell puppies for dog fighting and things. You can call animal control if you want but DO NOT buy from craigslist.

    Greek is 100% right.

Try to raise the poorly bred pit you have now. After it becomes a master of obediance, concentrate on that one. You don't need another poorly bred one. The one you have will cast enough in vet bills.

Argh, what's with all the idiots who by em!!!

Don't purchase them, then you won't be contributing to the PROBLEM.

    Then, NOTHING should concern you.

You should NOT have pets considering you've killed so many puppies. Please do a puppy a favor and don't get one.
