It's called a travel system. An they aren't that great.

Rather than the frame that you're talking about which I called a "snap n go" most people these days use stroller travel systems.

The system comes with a full size stroller and the infant seat - the infant car seat can be clipped onto the stroller, facing you so you don't have to wake baby up when going in and out of the car. This is very convenient for small trips, because, remember a baby should only be in a curved position like in a car seat for 30 minutes at a time, 60 at the absolute maximum. Otherwise back problems and oxygen levels can be a serious concern.

What you should do, is buy a convertible seat that stays in the car. If can hold a baby from 5-40/60lb depending on which seat you buy. They recline pretty flat, so it's safer for a baby to be in longer. They last for years, whereas an infant car seat can be outgrown in 4-8 months. Then buy a stroller that lays flat for a newborn. When go from car to the store or home etc, take baby out of the convertible seat and put in the stroller.

Yes, baby may wake up, but t's safer in the long run..

It's called a travel system. You have the wheels part, and on that you can clip on a travel cot for a younger baby, a seat for an older baby, or a car seat for short distances to and from the car.

While some people use the car seat for this all the time, that is NOT recommended. Babies should spend as little time as possible in car seats, and at most 2 hours in one day. Younger babies need to lie flat on their back, not semi reclined, and the position in a car seat, while providing protection in a car in case of collision, can restrict the baby's airways when kept in that position too long.

In my opinion a travel system with the car seat clipped on does have its uses as long as you understand these restrictions. For me it's a life saver because I live on the fifth floor, and it's a safe and convenient way to transport my baby on the stairs in the car seat and when downstairs just clip it on the stroller and go. But that only works because my baby is rarely in a car, and 9 times out of 10 I go out wearing him instead.

If a person can afford it and find it.....there is a 'convertible' system out there that you can buy.

I had one, for my 3. It came with a table, seat, bassinet and a wheel base. I used the bassinet, attached on top of the table, for each of my children's first 3-months (to sleep in) and then switched each to a crib in their own room. The seat can be attached right under the table for a 'table & chair combo', the seat can be attached above the table for a high chair combo, the chair can be attached to the wheel base for a stroller and the bassinet can be attached to the wheel base for a buggy.

I know it was a bit expensive but we used it for all 3 children and it was still in excellent shape for selling after the youngest grew out of everything.

You're looking for a frame stroller - a frame that the carseat fits into. Just make sure that it is compatible with the carseat you purchase, and remember that your baby won't be in the infant carseat forever. They will outgrow it, and you will need a proper stroller then. We stopped taking our carseat around with us when baby was four months old. It was just too heavy.

    Congrats and good luck!
