I wouldn't go so far as ignoring him. Maybe look at him, smile, then continue what you are doing. It breaks my heart when the person I like ignores or doesn't pay attention to me. But playing hard to get for too long gets boring

No, it doesn't work. It's a horrible idea. If you like someone, tell them so. Ignoring them is showing indifference. Guys do not find indifference attractive.
