Bunion correction surgery and foot tattoo?

I really want to get a tattoo on the inside of my right ankle stretching down to about the inside middle of my foot around where the arch begins.

The problem is that at some point in the next 5-8 years, I will have to have bunion correction surgery. Does anyone know how much scarring there is from that, and if that would affect my tattoo?

Should I wait to get the tattoo until after the surgery? Could a tattoo help cover scarring?

The tattoo that I am thinking of is Peter Pan and the children flying (in color) with the quote "Think of the happiest things, it's the same as having wings..."

Thank you!

My scar goes to the middle of my arch but is more on the top of my foot than the bottom. You should wait until after the surgery to get the tattoo. It will help cover up the scar, and whatever parts it doesn't cover it will accent nicely. I have a bit more scarring than you will because my first surgery got messed up and I had a second surgery. I made a video of it if you want to see.

If at all possible, I would wait to get the tattoo until after the surgery. The likely answer is that it won't "mess up" unless the tattooed area is right where the area of surgery would be but this is not necessarily the case. If you have a tattoo at the top of your foot and they need to cut it open and stitch it tighter then it could stretch your tattoo and distort it.
