Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS? URGENT!?

Hi, I recently had to change the modem for my computer and now my router won't connect to the internet. My new modem is a 2WIRE and I have DSL as my internet connection. I've already tried to reset the router, it just won't work.

This is when my Ethernet cable is connected to my modem

I've done everything possible to try to fix my internet and it just won't work. I know for a fact my router works because you can still see the WIFI on my phone, but once I connect my cord to the router it just puts an "!" on my network icon on the lower right screen. Can someone please help? I've factory restored my router, tried to set it up again, but the same thing keeps happening over and over again. Thank you very much!

Update:

Should I do it while my ethernet is connected to my modem or router?

Update 2:

Well last week I was using the Speedsteam with 5 lights and it was working perfectly fine, so shouldn't it be working still? The Speedsteam is also a DSL modem

your problem seems to be that both the 2Wire and the Router and passing DHCP on the same subnet. While this is possible it is not recommended. You can run into all kids of weird problems. (Ala above)

    I would suggest the following;

Log into the router and change its LAN settings to something like the following:

LAN IP address for the router 10.0.0.1 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, with RIP direction set to both and RIP version to disabled. Now the DHCP range on the router should automatically change to the 10.0.0.x range once the new configuration is saved to the router.

If the PC is set for DHCP then open a command prompt and enter the following:

    ipconfig /release

and then hit the enter key and it should release your address. Once the prompt comes back type the following:

    ipconfig /renew

and press the enter key and it should pickup a new IP address that should be in the 10.0.0.X DHCP range.

If your PC is set to a static IP address go into the adapter properties and change it to Auto and when you click OK it should update the settings and it should pickup a new address in the 10 network, like above.

Point of note: If you are not using the WiFi on the 2Wire I would log into it and turn it off. Will make finding the right WiFi network a bit easier and less confusing. Might also consider turning off the DHCP on the 2Wire as well if you are running everything through the router.

    Hope that helps.

Try taking off your Static IP because if you unplugged your Ethernet cable and plugged it into a different connection you should have releases your IP address of x.x.x.104 but its still comes up....

And Maybe you might not have DNS installed or your using a Static DNS as well and DHCP from the router isn't giving you an IP address or DNS

Use "ipconfig/all" to get more details of your connection and post it here or create another post with more details.

If your running a static config it may be configured to the modem and not router.

For DSL you should not use a separate router and modem. You should use a DSL router.
