Good Bars in Abu Dhabi?
The United Arab Emirates is a largely dry country but I was lucky enough, when I was in Dubai, to find a Belgian Bar in the Intercontinental Hotel. Does anyone know of a similar oasis in Abu Dhabi? I will be staying at the Fairmount, but I've not yet managed to find out what they have in their bars - I suspect it'll be the usual chemical fizz :(
Thank you, H, for your answer. It is very helpful. My statement about drinking was taken from the official information provided by the Conference organizers, that drinking was mainly restricted to hotels and night clubs. My own experiences in Dubai, Qatar and Oman seems to bear this statement out. I am glad to learn that Abu Dhabi seems to be a better venue for drinkers than I had feared it would be..

Please note that the Emirate Sharjah is the only dry Emirate in the UAE. Everywhere else you'll find a lot of bars, night clubs, discos, pubs, etc and so also in Abu Dhabi.
At the Fairmount you'll have: http://www.fairmont.com/abu-dhabi/dining/chameleon...
The Belgian Bar you also can visit at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi. 99% of all 5 star Hotels have a bar offering a wide selction of famous brands of alcohol. A real "oasis" is the Monte Carlo Beach Club on Saadiyad Island.
Please visit the link giving below to discover how false your statement regarding a "dry country" is:

nicely, I relatively have lived right here for almost 2 years, and coated exceptionally plenty each and every of the downtown section taking walks, in long walks in the previous summer time hits. I relatively have never considered a biker bar/cafe in Abu Dhabi and that i'd heavily doubt that any exist. maximum places, exterior of lodge eating places/cafes, are nevertheless segregated in terms of being for men purely or having separate seating aspects for women folk individuals. Abu Dhabi isn't what i'd call a "hip place."

There are plenty of proxies and VPN services out there but a large amount of the bigger more well known domains are getting blocked in the Middle East now so you are best searching for a smaller site that carries out the same function that is not blocked. Free VPN Proxy is unblocked and works fine here for unblocking other websites and geo restricted content.
