I have very dry, red, itchy, painful eyes. (maybe chronic dry eyes) but I want to wear contacts?
I've tried wearing contacts in the past, and they were extremely uncomfortable, and made my eyes even more red than they already always are. I asked my eye doctor at the time, and he said he didn't believe in Restasis or any other eye drop. So I had to stop wearing my contacts. That was just one doctors opinion, and I have not looked into it since. I would REALLY love to wear contacts again. I want to know what has worked and not worked for real people out there. Any suggestions would help

I've been suffering from a severe case of Chronic Dry Eye since 2011. My doctor put punctal plugs in my tear ducts and prescribed me Restasis. I also use Thera Tears (drops), which is over the counter and helps some what. My eyes are still extremely dry, itchy, and burning. I'm still rubbing them all the time. I'm not as sensitive to light, and my vision isn't blurry anymore except right after I wake up when the eyes are the driest. I've also used Celluvisc by Refresh (drops), which is also over the counter. It helped some, but not much. I was also prescribed antibiotic drops for a short time, which did nothing. Nothing has helped much, but the plugs and Restasis have helped more than anything else. I don't wear glasses or contacts, but I'm sure contacts would irritate my eyes. I can't even wear make-up (I'm female) or use eye cream/moisturizer anymore.
