    Hi Gulienne,

The SAT is offered in October, November, December, and January. All colleges will accept the October and November scores, some will accept the December scores, and a few will even accept January scores.

The ACT is offered in September, October, and December. All colleges will accept the September and October scores and some will accept the December scores.

For Early Decision and Early Action, it depends on the individual school. Most have a deadline of November 1st, so the October SAT and the September ACT would be accepted, but none of the other administrations will have scores back in time for the deadline.

    I hope that helps!

If you do not apply under Early Decision (I or II) or Early Action, then the vast majority of schools with deadlines of Jan. 1 or later will accept the SAT and ACT test dates through the December ones. For ED I / EA, many will accept the October tests, but almost certainly not the November tests, and many will not accept the October tests (or can't guarantee that they'll be used).

For Early Decision and Early Action, it depends on the individual school. Most have a deadline of November 1st, so the October SAT and the September ACT would be accepted, but none of the other administrations will have scores back in time for the deadline. Many will accept the October dates, but many also do not, and November dates are almost off the table from the start. ED II deadlines vary a little more, so you can probably get away with November, but not December test dates.

Regardless of the advice that I or the other posters have given you, you should always still contact colleges if you have a question about this which is not answered on their website; an email is not a lot of work compared to what could happen if you found out after taking the test that your scores would not be accepted.

No not really. You need your results back in time to apply to colleges. Many college deadline to apply will be 1/1/14. some are earlier. a few are later.

You need to know when you need to have your application in for the colleges you want to apply to.

Most early action and early decision deadline are before November.

You may not find deadline dates for Fall 2014 on college web sites right now. I would call up the admissions office and ask. Some early actions/decision deadlines can be in October. call and ask admissions
