I'm honestly unsure. This seems to be unique to American conservatives. Go to Germany, and you find the right-wing Christian Democratic Union under Angela Merkel calling for attention to climate change.

In Canada, there is at least some funding from the right-wing Conservative party towards using cleaner energy and environmental causes. That is, they at least acknowledge it is a problem.

In America, the right-wing seems to be completely paranoid and delusional. There really is no explanation.
