Trying to find a game i played when i was younger?

i remember playing a pirate game when i was younger, i believe it was on either the PS2 or PS1. i don't remember a lot about it but i know it was a free roam game where you could control your pirate ship and get into naval battles with other ships. it wasn't just your typical click the enemy and your ship attacks like in Civilization, you actually had full control over driving the ship and you had to aim and fire the cannons manually and everything. i also remember that you could dock the ship and leave to explore the land too. once again, i don't remember much but it had your typical 3rd person fighting game controls(attack, switch weapons, i'm not sure if there was an option to pick up weapons or not) and the only enemies i remember facing were skeletons of dead pirates in a little canyon area)i never really went anywhere else cause i was a little kid and was having fun killing skeletons XD so does anyone have any idea what game i might be thinking of? thanks for any help
