What is a stereotype about the area in which you live? (Not your country)?

I.e. your city / town / county / state, etc.

E.g. I'm from Liverpool, England. Liverpudlians or "Scousers" have the stereotype of thieves because of the slums that existed before the regeneration -- despite now being one of the safest cities in the U.K.

What's your regional stereotype?

    Sheffield [UK].

Tight fisted, plain speaking Yorkshire folk.

Who think Yorkshire is the best place in the world [even if they hate other cities in the county].

Umm, I don't know. I live on an estate. When I first moved here five years ago people said I was a chav because only chavs live on that estate. There's still a stereotype that everyone here is a thug and it's a dangerous place to live, but it's not that bad, just stupid rumours.

  • Well I'm from Essex, so if you've ever seen TOWIE *The Only Way is Essex* that's pretty much the stereotype.

I live in Ireland, we drink a lot and eat nothing but shpuds.

Ask anyone what a common Irishman is and he'll say a shpud eating drunk.

    And a leprechaun..

I don't really know because I've never been the type of person who socializes with my neighbours or people who live near my area. :/
