How to properly transport this car?

I am loading up a manual 5 speed car onto a uhaul car trailer. The handbrake does not lock in place so the only way I can park it is in gear. If I leave it in first gear, will it roll forward still? I need a way to lock it so it doesn't move forward or back.

Any car being hauled on a trailer needs to be chained or strapped down, regardless of whether the parking brake works or not. You can't just park it on the trailer and drive like that.
