How long until China becomes a developed nation?

How long until China can have a high standard of living compared to other developed world? China has 1.3 billion people to feed, right now most Chinese peoples lives are not yet near that of Europeans, Amercian, Korean japanese etc so how long?

China economy will son surpass USA how ever we have 4 times the people to look after. How large would Chinas economy have to be until every gets a good standard of living? Same thing India - how does a country feed over 1 billion people?

Millions miles long. Not in our life time in the next 40 - 60 years, for sure.

    EDIT

CCP is a whole bunch of greedy, ruthless gangsters who do things totally out of their private pockets greed.

Similar to Tibetans and Xinjiangers, Hongkongers are increasingly fed up of the loads of ruthless, ill-mannered and greedy Mainlanders deliberately dumped onto HK by CCP, disrupting peace and cultures there.

Since 1997 merging with China, CCP has already dumped 900,000 ruthless and poor Mainland immigrants to HK, these people are lazy, not follow the cultures and traditions of Hongkongers, and expect HK taxpayers to hand them all the free benefits. We have one good example on Yahoo Answer, CCP the Lap Dog.

The displease of Hongkongers towards CCP/Mainlanders purposedly diluting HK's cultures and traditions is expressed as follows by bloggers there,

Greedy, corrupted and abusive Mainlanders should all be expelled out of the city permanently!

"The China Modernization Report 2005, released at a seminar organized by the China Centre for Modernization Research under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, concluded China will become a "moderately developed country" before 2050."

"Around 2080, persistent economic growth will enable China to become a "developed country" and then to be in front of the world's most industrialized countries within the next two decades, the experts and scholars say."

So by 2080 the Chinese government reckon.

However, growing GDP does not = equal development level.

A wide disparity in income among the People and skyrocketing environmental damage, combined with the entrenched corruption and graft among China's leadership along the lines of a Police State, is preventing China from becoming a "developed country" in the modern sense of the term. The government prefers to spend money on trying to control the People rather than on helping them. Thus, the length of time until China becomes "developed" is left as "uncertain".

After the Cultural Revolution, and the allowance for "limited capitalism to be enjoyed only by a select few", the PRC has devolved into a Plutocracy wherein NONE of the Human Rights constructs within its Constitution that are aligned with being "Democratic", "Socialist", and/or "Communist" are left viable and applicable, as they are consistently overridden by the Central Committee.

Think about it as the higher ups saying, "I can do whatever I want. I obey NO LAW! If you try to do anything to stop me, then I can easily pay for someone to have you killed/jailed/tortured/beaten."

    Decades, if that...

A developed nation does not kill its population with a dangerous and toxic environment.

A developed nation does not supress the freedom of expression or assembly.

A developed nation does not sacrifice social welfare for corporate interests.

A developed nation is not financed with bribes.

A developed nation... so on and so on...

The collective egocentric mentality in all arenas needs to change.

Not until the nation's poverty size is smaller. It's currently around 400 people-more than the populations of the U.S. and Germany combined.

my prediction is around 20 years, given current growth rate.

the chinese per capita income quadripled from 1990 to 2000, and then quadripled again from 2000 to 2008, then doubled again from 2008 to 2013. takes about another 7-8 yrs for china to overtake united states as world's largest economy (note: forex based, not just PPP, for PPP it only needs another 2-3 yrs).

per capita income wise, it takes longer, but again according to current growth rate, just under 15-20 yrs from now.
