I went through basic in 2012. Don't stress about basic, it sucks but it's only for 10 weeks. As long as your motivated you can make it through.
Well when you first ship off you don't go to basic. For the first 4-10 days your at a place known as Reception. Reception will be the worst part of your experience at BCT. It's the time when you get issued all your military gear and getting your arms, butt stabbed with countless shots, and filling out surveys. Oh, and don't expect any sleep while your there. You may get 2 hours of sleep a night while at Reception.
On your first official day of basic training they will make you all get onto a bus and hide your face in your duffel bag. Once the bus stops, all hell breaks lose. Drill Sergeants will get on the bus yelling "GET THE F OFF MY BUS". For me, they had us hold our duffel bags above our heads and run this little obstacle course they had set up. Then we fell into a formation where they proceeded to scream into our faces, smoke us, and throw everything from inside our duffelbags all over the PT pit. The rest of the day is just getting assigned a bunk and blocks of instruction (Classes).
Then at the end of the day one of our drill sergeants came into our bay, made us all strip down and toe-the-line. We then proceeded to run around the barracks doing something our drill sergeants called "shower drills". We successfully got 58 recruits showered in 2 minutes. Don't worry about embarrassment. Your too afraid at the time to be embarrassed.

I'm sure some things have changed since 1973, but here's how it was then. I had my first airplane trip riding in a DC3 from Love field in dallas to fort polk Louisiana on Trans Texas Airlines (aka Tree Top Airlines). Cool.
Rode a nice bus to a reception center at Fort Polk. It had a tall fence around it, but that was for our protection since we weren't learned in the ways of the army yet. Cool.
Nice drill sergeants would visit us every morning around 8 and make sure we had breakfast. Took us on another bus ride to get our uniforms. First thing we got were white boxer shorts. We then had to strip everything and put it in a box to be sent home. The rest of the new clothes "shopping" was in our new underwear. Cool.
Had a ride back to the barracks in the reception center and the nice drill sergeants showed us how to wear the uniform. Told some war stories. Not real war stories, just interesting things about the military. Cool
That evening we were asked if we wanted to volunteer for KP. Everyone laughed. The drill sergeants told us it would be an interesting experience and we could see what it was really like. A few of us volunteered. Cool.
Had to get up early at 5am for KP. We all joked about times we had to get up that early. Going fishing, paper routes, and long bus rides to school. KP was pretty laid back. Was kinda fun. Cool.
That afternoon, we were going to our basic combat training company. We were all exited to get the training underway. Shoot, this new volunteer army was not bad at all. We got into a formation and after some corrections on army vs civilian right and left we headed for the gates to the reception center. Lots of friendly banter with the drill sergeants. Cool
When the last of the company cleared the reception gate, something horrible happened. They looked like the same drill sergeants, but suddenly they were screaming at us, pushing us out of formation to do push ups, and having to run circles around the formation. We weren't walking anymore either. we were double timing. And the bus to carry us to the company area never showed up. We were marching with a huge heavy duffle bag. WTF????
It went down hill from there. My recruiter told me about the "game". Purpose of BCT is to break you down as an individual and build you up as a team. The breaking down is hell. You just need to keep you mindset of "this too will pass", just like constipation or a kidney stone.
My advice, keep your cool no matter what happens around you. Much of what you do can (and should) have rage just below the conscious level. Don't let it go higher.

basic is easy, its reception you need to worry bout, if you ever thought you were bored before you have No idea, 4 days of waking up at 4am going to sleep at 10pm, with nothing but boring routine & filling out papers...those 4 days were worse than basic, basic is elementary, your drill sergeant show you what to do then you do it its kinda like school..

Nothing to worry about, just live one day at a time, and always pray for protection. Bless you.
