one parakeet or two? And care?
Hey, i go to school from 8:00 to 4:00 and I wanted to get a parakeet, its almost summer break so i wont have school, but starting next year, im going from 7:00 to 2:00, I was wondering if i should get 2 or 1 parakeet. I was thinking 2 because while im gone they'd have company, but i want 1 because i want the parakeet to be used to me and not bond TOO much with the second bird. which is better, i'm hoping 1 because last time i had 3 birds in one cage, first MY bird died, then my sister's bird died. and of course Max was the only survivor... -.- SOMEBODY CALL 911 no but really 1 bird or 2. i'm getting them this weekend. also, how do i take care of them? what are the everyday things, monthly things (no not periods...) and such. btw will parakeets get along with a puppy? cause my cousins come every weekend and they have puppy now.

I would recommend a lovebird, because they tend to only bond to one person, and they are also very territorial. Do you know why the died? I don't want another bird to die not knowing the reason for its death.
Anyways for taking care of parakeets, they need a lot of company, free time to fly, clean cage is a must have, clean water, clean seed, good atmosphere-not too cold not too hot, no pests no insects, should be let out to fly at least, parakeets don't really have periods until they get really old but rarely for a non-birth given female parakeet, or none at all. monthly-feathers molting.
One need to wash cage with water-no soap!!, clean poop and feathers every day, change water and food everyday.
Things to be AWARE of:
you should buy those Daily Blend Nutrient Rich Food, ingredients are way more than this blend and healthier, and sometimes it is the at the lowest prize $3.00.Pet store toys are not even balanced, and every toy says parakeets favourite, but most of the toys i brought at stores, my budgies was curious then after a poke they will never touch it again. Pet stores don't really tell the truth about things!
I would recommend a male budige, because they have a chance to mimic human words, their personality is better, they are easier to tame and bond more to their owners.
DON'T clip your birds' wings, causes stress and is also unnecessary, you could email me to ask why if you decided to do that horrible punishment for your bird.
When you birds' nails get too long you need to cut it, DON'T cut the veins or close to the veins part.
Not really, parakeets don't get along with puppies, unless their puppy is the quiet kind that doesn't go crazy for toys and bark. Birds will get scared of a puppy barking and its running. Since parakeets look like toys for the puppy. Not that important to get a cage, parakeets don't need a huge cage especially when the population of the parakeet is highly less such as one bird. parakeets make a whole lot of mess.
DON'T touch its belly or push its belly to TAME it!! You could email me if you are at that kind of taming state if you get one budgie.
If for any reason, any of your bird bleeds, put some soap or flour on the wound to try and clod up blood. Too much blood loss will cause bird to DIE!!

I had 2 parakeets for 13 years, in simple terms be arranged- they stay an rather long term. in actuality I in simple terms saved them in a medium-sized cage, and had it putting from a hook on the ceiling of my returned porch in good climate, that way they could be outdoors continuously. At evening I delivered them interior and placed them in a room become independent from the place all of us replaced into slumbering (as they make a great number of noise) and placed a blanket over the cage, so as that they had sleep. I additionally delivered them in throughout undesirable climate. I wiped clean out their cage as quickly as each week and refilled nutrition and water as needed. i could propose getting their wings clipped in case you have not already, they seem to be a discomfort in the event that they get out of the cage. desire this helps :)
