I have a question for Ebay users or Verizon users?
Would Verizon let me use HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE for wi-fi use only and not have it activated? I want this phone but I wont be able to keep up with the bill. Do I need to have a service to use the wi-fi and apps like Pinger and viber or Skype? I want to buy a used phone from ebay with no contract and not activated with service.

You don't have to have it activated to use the service, no Alice. Good question. You would need a SIM card in order to get into the phone though. Otherwise you won't even be able to get into the main menu. It's not like that on all android devices. Just wanted you to know before you make the purchase.

Yea, what Rafa said. It will work. You don't need to have an android phone active to use it. Depending on the phone it may need teh sim card installed tho or you'll get nagged about it constantly. so if it uses one, make sure it's there. Otherwise yeah, you can do everything but make calls and text thru wifi. And you can do both of those with 3rd party apps which will work thru wifi

Verizon most likely can't charge you if you're not on their network. Yes wifi if the phone has no problems, hadn't been stolen, and works, will work.

Of course, you can use the phone as iPod without getting any service.
