Is it possible to have a completely wireless room?
My tv is in the wall and the wire is nearly hidden behind it?
I've heard you can get wireless DVD players, is this true? And does this mean I won't have to plug the DVD into the tv??
I don't want wires in my room..
HELP!!!! :)

Build a 'Media Center' PC.
That can be located out of sight and connected to an aux HDMI input on the TV.
If you get a standard MS Media center remote kit, the Media Center software built in to the better versions of Windows 7 can be controlled completely from a conventional looking remote control.
The standard media centre functions very well and can play movies, TV programs, music etc. from a hard drive, but the visual appearance is based on grids of icons and not that brilliant looking.
There is a free add-on for it called 'Mediabrowser' that add coverflow-style scrolling and handles metadata - eg. so if you pick out a movie or TV episode, it gives you the summary text, cast, ratings etc.
Another add-on (Media Center Master) will automatically sort most files & put them in the correct folders, and download all the related info & images etc.
If you have the media storage drive shared, that can run on another PC so you never have to use a keyboard with the media machine.
The setup will also play DVDs, or you can store the DVD files on hard drive and select them in the same way as other movie files.
Set up properly, you can play any media (music, video, photos, TV etc.) without ever touching anything but the remote & without ever seeing the computer box...
I have the media center machine in a small case, linked via ethernet to another system in the loft that has the bulk media storage, shared by the whole house.
The only bit that needs to be 'visible' is the infra-red receiver for the remote control.
See the links.
The first two are the original MS remote, then cheaper alternatives.
Next are the Mediabrowser software and MCM.
All you need is a moderate PC that has HDMI out, plus the remote control & generally free software - and a bit of time setting it up.
It all works incredibly well together and I have several friends & relatives using this system.
(ps. All the software etc. is American origin, hence 'center' rather than centre).

You really don't want wires in your room do you? You can get wireless DVD players as well as converters for your xbox or other games console to stream games direct to your T.V. This would also cut out the need for a wireless DVD player as you could just use you xbox as a DVD player. There's loads of different wireless products on the net at the moment to digitize the home, there's even wireless showers these days! http://www.crosswater.co.uk/inspiration/whats-new/...

Hi marty m
Yes, wireless DVD player are available (either built-in or USB dongle) so you can connect everything wirelessly
You still need a power source which requires a lead and plug for these devices

this is seen to be undesirable prepare to have a TRV interior the comparable room because of the fact the "wall" thermostat. this is because of the fact in some circumstances they're going to "combat" one yet another. it is, the radiator TRV could be grew to become down low and the room would not get heat adequate to "end" the wall-stat. for this reason the wall-stat will shop the boiler working in an attempt to heat its room as much as the preset OFF temperature. that can't ensue because of the fact the radiator is grew to become down. So something of the abode gets the entire earnings of the boiler working flat-out and all of it gets too heat. in case you swap the different rooms' TRVs down then the abode will cool down however the boiler continues to be working you're dropping it. to dodge this conflict skillfully considerate and knowledgeable professional appropriate heating engineers won't placed a TRV interior the comparable room (or corridor) because of the fact the appropriate heating wall thermostat. Your plumber became actually maximum appropriate while he grew to become the TRV complete on. This efficiently skill that this is "no longer there" as far because of the fact the radiator is in touch so it is going to constantly belt out its complete warmth. The wall-stat will anticipate that the wanted temperature for the home is reached so it shuts down the boiler. this is why different rooms are chilly. it form of feels that your instantaneous wall-stat is interior the incorrect room. on your place it is going to be interior the room it is the coolest (while this is TRV is grew to become on complete). leave the TRV in that room on complete. Then the wall-stat will inspire the boiler to outlive adequate to heat up something of the abode. you may regulate the TRVs interior the diverse rooms to make all of us comfortable. So your treatment is to go the instantaneous thermostat. it would desire to be greater awkward to get to if its in yet another room (ideally the corridor) however the appropriate heating device will artwork lots greater effective.
