No used games on new generation consoles ?

So I just seen the xbox one preview yesterday and boy I was BLEW AWAY at what it can do that thing is a monster. I am a playstation fan boy however but still I was blew away on June 10th ps4 is going to have to come hard. I there are rumors that the new consoles might not play used games. If that is true they will and are going to lose out BIG TIME. Games are $60. Once games get over $60 anyway im going to stop playing $45-50 dollars shouldve been enough anyway. I always buy mine new anyway but thats not the point. When I buy an old game I buy it used. What are going to do put deadlines on when you can get such and such game to get it or keep selling them new for $60. Seriously I like the new xbox (even though im waiting on ps4) and all but seriously I will just get my old ps3 fixed (the big one) and touched up to a1 shape cause it blew out and continue playing games on that if thats the case as well as keeping my 360. There has also been talk of in the future games will all be downloadable which is stupid af cause that will put game sellling stores out of business. By the way WHY IN THE HELL would they call it the ''xbox one''. That is so stupid. Basically the first xbox released in 2002 was the ''xbox one''. I preferred the name of the xbox 720 and xbox durango as my second choice. How the hell is a game console going to be able to tell if the game is used anyway ?!. Im not saying the rumor is true its just what I heard.

Update:

I ALSO heard both xbox one an the ps4 will NOT have pre-generation console playback thats another DUMB thing. I believe you should be able to play games from the very first xbox released up until now as well as playstation 1 games up to ps4 games.

Well, Sony has already come out against the idea of tying games to a specific account... so it doesn't sound like they'll be killing of the second hand market on the PS4. And, incidentally, that's how the Xbox One console tells if a game is used or not. Every game comes with an one-time-use activation code that is associated with your Live account, similar to PC software, and installs to your hard drive (you no longer need the disc to play).

And you're correct... neither the PS4 nor the One will be backwards compatible with previous systems. Personally, that doesn't bother me that much. The entire idea of console backwards compatibility has only even existed since the PS2 (so basically only applies to the current generation and the previous). It's basically a feature that was explored and ultimately found to be too expensive.

As for game prices... they're only going to continue to rise, so if you're going to "stop playing" once they hit $60+, you're probably not going to be playing anything after the PS3 and 360 are retired. More powerful hardware means higher quality graphics, longer, more immersive games, and more online interactivity. That makes games drastically more expensive to program (games USED to be created by a team of 4-5 people... now you have credits listings that take 10 to 20 minutes to scroll through, and all of those people have to be paid). Plus you have general economic cost increases ($10 today is worth nowhere near what $10 was worth twenty years ago).

And actually, the idea of a console that only supports downloadable games isn't so "stupid". Yes, game RESELLERS, like Gamestop my be driven out of business, but it's actually better for the game industry as a whole because it cuts out the middle man. That means more profits go to the people actually making the games rather than a store who's primary business is reselling used discs. It also means that developers save on publishing costs (i.e. the cost of pressing a million copies of the physical disc which may or may not all sell). Steam, for example, has been immensely successful with a download-only service.

As for the name, "Xbox One" is mean to evoke the idea that it's the one appliance you need in your living room. I'm not a big fan of the name, personally, but I can see what they were going for.

I've heard the same. Apparently Xbox One requires you to verify the game by inserting a code online, and if that code has already been used once you will have to pay the full price for the game again. The game will probably be bound to your account, like in Steam, so when you login you can access all of your games with just your login information. But yes, this makes second-hand games impossible for Xbox, which seems very wrong. There are many gamers who couldn't afford their games otherwise. I could afford to pay even the 50€ new games cost nowadays, but I choose not to, simply because it's too much for a game. Some years ago it was 30€...

Also, if the game companies make their games all digital, they can control the prices and raise them as high as they want. And they don't have to give permissions for Gamestop etc. if they make the games downloadable. All they need is their own Steam-like service, and they control the prices with no competition. This means you either pay prices that are too damn high or you don't play. I think the game industry is getting too greedy. Someone who can't afford to pay the price of a new game can't possibly start buying them if the companies take away used games. I sure hope this won't be a problem on PC... At least for now Steam is a beacon in the dark for those who don't want to waste their money...

the two Nintendo & interest Informer mag & something of the information media have one hundred% shown that they are going to by no skill make a 2nd version of the nintendo 3DS. And the Wii U comes out someplace from June to October 2012, with a thoroughly new revelutionary controller which will replace video games continuously, as quickly as returned. And Microsoft has one hundred% shown that they are going to launch the hot X container 720 (call would desire to alter) in 2013, and that they're going to show it off in E3 2012. And Sony has mentioned that they don't decide to attend to long to launch a clean psafter Nintendo releases the Wii U, in view which would be risky to their video interest franchise. So the PS4 is ninety 9% certain by skill of this assertion back out in 2014.
