question about a seat belt ticket?

ok so i am 17 but only have a permit i was driving my car and wasn't with someone who was at least 21 with a license. i had a friend sitting in the passenger seat she wasn't wearing her seat belt. when i was pulled over he said "hello and how are you today?" i said "im doing pretty good how about you?" he said "good" and that was all he said to me he then askef for my friends id or license she gave her license and he then asked me for my proof of insurance i gave it to him. if he had just asked me for my license i would of been screwed. but he didn't, but why did he ask for my insurance and is there any chance of my mom ever finding out about it? the cop told my friend it wouldn't affect her insurance. so it wouldn't affect me in anyway either right since he didnt even ask for my i.d.

She 'may' find out later you received a non chargeable ticket (means it won't affect your insurance). Just pay it, and don't sweat it. Click it, or Ticket!!

He asked for proof of insurance because it's the law that you carry a minimum amount of liability. They check that at any stop. Generally speaking a person riding without a seatbelt gets a ticket, so your friend got lucky.

As soon a the seatbelt laws came into being I began insisting that all my passengers wear them. I don't need the heat of being stopped by the law!! I recommend you do the same.
