How does a murderous attack on an individual come to be called a "Terror" attack?

Is it because of a Religious colour to it?

Then why weren't/aren't fatal attacks on Sikhs in UK/USA named so??? They are simply called 'Hate' crimes...but this one gets an extreme title.

Why???

Genuine answers please!

Update:

True! It's a horrible murder, no doubt! But how does the 'terror' angle come into the picture?

    Good question.

Does 'terror' sound bigger than 'hate crime' to you? Then it could be that the ones in power would use the bigger word..

My time and money are more valuable than yours... kind of thing.

The terror comes in when there is a political motive and the killing is perpetrated to attain a political goal. If it is a religious motive, a racial motive or a gender issue motive, it is a hate crime. The victim is equally dead and there is no reason to think either is any better than the other.

Terror is a method of attaining political goals. If it is your guys doing it, it is called combat. If it is the other guys, it is called terror.

Boston took a punch on Monday — two of them, actually — that left it staggering for a bit. Flesh proved vulnerable, as flesh is wont to do, but the spirit merely trembled before recasting itself into something stronger than any bomb or rage - David Lehane

Terrorism is a reaction to an imperfect attack by imperfect righteous men and women. But the reaction is needed to enable us to move on and to see clearly again. Let us keep moving on.

When the terrorist clearly threatened continuing attacks, he was purposely intending to inflict terror on the community. The brutality, and indiscriminate nature of his attack aside, it was the intentional promise of more terrifying attacks in the future that accurately portray this grizzly murder an act of terror. How terrified do people have to become before the commission of a filthy felony is labeled a terrorist attack?

This was called a terror attack because the savages were targeting one of our HEROES.

This was a deliberate attack on all of us together, an attack on the whole country.

The evil murderers are NOT Muslim, just savages. It is a mistake to let them get away

with calling themselves Muslim as they are NOT religious. They are just evil satanists.

All of us need to stand together now as One United Kingdom for peace.

All of our HEROES are for peace. We are in Afghanistan to ensure peace.

    Source(s): Common sense.

Someone makes a decision to say that. Terrorist attacks are usually motivated by hate, so more emphasis is put on the perceiver's emotional reaction rather than the attackers emotional condition.

How does someone have 8.5 million dollars to pull out in fee's/profit from a business but not enough to see if you could make it profitable. When a business shuts down, it shouldn't be to the sound of the owners walking away with all the $$

I've noticed that if the assailant claims to be a muslim, then the incident is immediately declared a terrorist incident. If the assailant claims to be of any other religion or doesn't mention it, then the incident is categorised the same as all other similar incidents, just murder.

It's a belligerent act typically based on ignorance. There really isn't any other reason they would do something like that other than pure stupidity.

He was screaming in Aramaic the reason being that the UK was fighting against Muslims in the middle east. My question if this is true then why is he living in a free society and NOT fighting in the Middle East with his Arab brothers? You must note that this was used to create fear in the people of the UK, this is their first intimidation technique so that Islamic terrorists can captivate your Country. Fight back! The UK have too many Muslims living in your Country. No more!!! And we sure do not want them here in the U.S.
