Under $1000, piece of cake:
CPU: i5 3570k: $210
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
GPU: HD 7950: $319
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
RAM 8GB: $70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
Mainboard: Your choice. This is my choice: $135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
PSU: $90
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
HHD: $90
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
So in total: $914
You can also get a SSD, which is very good, but that will exceed $1000.

ok Andy L., I didn't include those, sorry. However, the fan for overclock is not necessary :p. I put the 3670k there because the 3570 (now) cost more on newegg.
I guess $1127-$30= $1097. my bad :-bd

the cheapest way is to buy all the parts separately and put it together, it will cost you less and you can choose exactly what you need, the most important is picking good processor, video card, and memory
