Anyone know how to get rid of sand burrs, stickers, those awful things?
I'm considering a flamethrower but would be open to a more environmentally friendly way.

Your suggestion, wasn't far off. More purposeful is a propane gas torch, guaranteed, to
exterminate them wherever the flame touches them.
Differing types, are available, including ones with a long-reach handle, to eradicate them
especially at the joints on stone patios, they're not recommended for timber ones.
Use with Caution !!!

If you're willing to wait until next season, spray them with Roundup or a similar poison after they've grown a few inches, but have not flowered yet.
