does god care if we succeed or fail?

Update:

inspired: the parable misidentifies why the shepard went after the lost animal. There was a value to the animal in wool, breeding and meat. This does not translate into the human "care" that I meant to express, that being: mentally if you succeed I am happy, if you fail I am unhappy. Generally as humans if we care about the outcome of something we do what we can to create the outcome that pleases us.

Update 2:

Light and truth: using your argument, if god is responsible for everything, then god also created all the things that cause us pain and can kill us, the things that can cause us to fail: cancer, birth defects, poisons, tumors, evil, devil, etc. so although your description of gods caring also must be balanced with the harmful things also created by god and this is the source of my question. I, as a human, will do everything reasonably possible to help another succeed if I care about whether they succeed or not. How does cancer, birth defects etc. help us to succeed and if not then where is the caring.

Not anymore than Santa would. Or the Easter Bunny. Or my invisible friend from Peru, Jafar.

Well, if he created the world, the stars, the universe, and set it just at the right point so that we had water and atmosphere, the earth yields all sorts of rocks, chemicals, oil, gas and a host of others. He put us in a climate just right for us that grows food and hosts animals for our enjoyment and pleasure, The very air we breath, the amazing organ called the body, all of this for us. At one point He said, "his is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." I say yes.

based on the verse below, I would say God loves us more than we could imagine.

"What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish."
