Corn snake question, help.?
I would like a pet corn snake soon, these are just some questions for owners.
1. I heard the vivarium should be around 30°C.(on the ''warm'' side. what should the ''cold'' side be at?
2. how should i heat up the tank? a UV bulb?
3. if it is around just 1-2 years old, you should give it a pinkie every **** days.
4. I know that corn snakes are docile and are not naturally angry snakes. Should i be bitten, i know not to rip him off me, as it would tear off a lot of my skin and worse, damage his teeth. should i be bitten, what should i do? i dont want to hurt him.

1) The cold side temperature isnt necessarily as important as the warm side, providing you have a significant drop. Most people don't monitor that sides temp, and just use room temperature.
Say around 21C (70F)
2) UV lighting does NOT produce enough heat to warm a tank. AT ALL. You need to use either a heat mat and thermostat, or a heat bulb and guard. UV lighting is not necessary.
3) At 1 - 2 years old, I'd be worried if the snake was still eating pinkies... At a year old, most corns can take at the very least a large fuzzy - small mice more common. One suitably sized meal every 7 days is fine for most.
4) If you are bitten and the snake does not want to let go, either just wait (even an adult corn isn't going to do a huge lot of damage) or waft vinegar or alcohol/mouthwash near its face. The powerful smell will make the snake uncomfortable and thus release you to get away from it
