3v cylinder heads on a 4.6?

Can 3 valve cylinder heads be used to replace 2 valve heads on a 2001 Mustang GT?

Update:

I'm pretty sure the stock Mustang GT's around 2005-2008 or so did not have cam phasers.

    Don't think so. The 2V and 4V blocks don't have the necessary oil passages needed for the VCT to function.
