Repost: When you delete a Yahoo"Answers" account, how long should it remain "there"?
Will people always be able to click on it, read your "about me", etc..?
I'll be more specific.. A Yahoo Answers account that meant everything connected would be gone with it.. will that account still be available forever for others to click on.. and if so, what is the point of being able to delete it?
There is something wrong here. Yahoo does allow you to delete your account and warns that anything Yahoo related will be gone with it.. email, yahoo groups and many others are listed.
Terminating your Yahoo! Account
Before continuing, please consider the following information.
By terminating this account, you will lose your Yahoo! ID, Mail address, and Profile names. We will also delete your account data and settings across the Yahoo! network. This includes the contents of your HotJobs, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Address Book, Yahoo! Small Business, Yahoo! GeoCities, Yahoo! Briefcase, My Yahoo! and more. Account deletion will also terminate any paid services that you own with this yahoo id. You may not be able to recover payments remitted for these services or the data associated with these accounts.
If you have not already done so, please verify that you have no active premium services before deleting your Account. To view and cancel your current subscriptions, visit Yahoo! Billing Information for your account, choose the "My Services" tab, and click the "Cancel" link for each subscription.

Clarification is needed. Yes, you can delete your email account. What happens HERE on Yahoo Answers is that after a time, not sure how long, your YA profile page will vanish. That's the page you see when you click your avatar. It will default to an "Oops!" message page. So your LIST of questions and answers will disappear. However, the actual questions and answers will remain on the site itself, because they don't actually belong to us after they are resolved; they belong to Yahoo. They do explain this in some of the stuff we agree to before we join. Just not in a way that makes it expressly clear.

The point is, no one can add you & see your acct. But that said, your questions you posted & answers will still show up on searches like on google.
Be sure to delete all of your contacts & fans, do not allow fans to add you as a contact, do not make your QA visible & remove any profile pic (make it the generic Yahoo one) and finally make your Profile private. That's all you can do before you hit delete.

It remains there *forever*, you can't delete one, even if you deactivate your email. It's just that the account itself cannot be accessed. For example, if you click on an active user's profile. There is a link to VIEW PROFILE which is their Yahoo! Profile. However, if someone deactivated their account, there will be no link. No one can add you as a contact.

Accounts cannot be deleted, the questions and answers are the property of Yahoo. You should remove all personal info from your account and hide whatever you can hide.
