Rap & Hip Hop: What are you guys up to?
I'm personally watching Dario Argento's Dracula. I love his movies usually, this is pretty good but not his best work.
RHH: Who are your favorite lyricist? Can you provide your favorite line(s) from them?
RHH2: So far, I've realized a lot of artist cannot put depth into their music but I still enjoy them, are there any artist like that for you?
Also, have you hear a song in an unique time signature? 3/4 or even 13/8? I've been interested in this because I've been trying to write a rap in 13/8, the hardest part is making it sound good.

Listening to Black Hippy and answering questions on YA.
BQ- IDK about favorite, but Talib and Andre 3k are two of the greatest IMO
BQ2- Tons. The first that comes to mind is Waka. Yes i know his rhymes are ignorant and he's not a particularly talented rapper, but I enjoy listening to his music.
BQ- none that I can think of off the top of my head. I feel like making a solid track in 13/8 would be incredibly difficult

Looking at album reviews by this guy Anthony Fantano on youtube. He's a pretty knowledgable guy from what I can tell.
RHH: In hip hop, that's tough. It's either Black Thought or Ghostface. I like Ghostface's randomness and eccentricity, just really unique, especially with his storytelling. He paints pictures like no other rapper. And quoting myself from another question I answered: I feel like Black Thought has become a rapper for the everyman, especially with the last four albums The Roots have released. His persona is that of a man on the grind, just trying to make it, losing faith in humanity, almost feeling helpless, but with full-confidence in his own abilities.
Some of my favorite lines from both of them:
Ghost (these are kind of cliche ones to pick out, but whatever):
"Trauma, hands is like candy canes, lay my balls on ice
The branches in my weed be the vein
Swimsuit issue, darts sent truly from the heart, boo, I miss you
See daddy rock a wristful"
Black Thought:
"Listen if it not for these hood inventions
I'd just be another kid from the block with no intentions
On the dock of that bay serving a life sentence
Even if I’m going to hell I’m gonna make an entrance"
RHH2: I'm sure there is, but I guess that all depends on what you consider to be "depth in music". What exactly is depth? Is it music that has some meaningful message or some great musicality? There's plenty of rappers who really just rap about typically hip hop subject matter (drugs, violence, superficial things, ect.), that don't really have meaningful and even purposeful lyrics, that I can enjoy. (By purposeful I mean lyrics or songs which are directly intended to be a form of pure self expression)
And uhm, sorry, I can't help you with the time signature stuff. I took Music Theory these year and still don't have that stuff down.
It's funny, a lot of old users are popping up lately.

I consider you. many human beings do no longer supply rap a raffle before they label it. in actuality, I used to try this. i think of the problem may well be with the incontrovertible fact that many rappers somewhat do no longer communicate approximately lots of something. rappers interior the mainstream. this is regrettably a style the place you ought to somewhat seek for plenty of the solid stuff. I additionally think of that many human beings have a difficulty with how rappers tend to glorify issues like pimping and all around disrespect to women, drugs, and killing. although this is substantial to understand that no longer all rappers communicate approximately that stuff and many of those that so, communicate approximately it because of the fact this is issues that they've long exceeded by. you ought to have the skill to weed out what's bullshit for looks and what's real. It additionally comes right down to attempting to appreciate it for what's solid approximately it and being a sprint greater lenient on what's undesirable. I regularly locate myself ignoring the lyrics and merely listening to the song because of the fact it is so solid.
