Semi permanent hair dye ???!!?

I take care of my hair a lot eventhought I still have a little bit of breakedge ... Point is I'm tired of my dark brown hair so I want to dye it black !! With semi permanent hair dye ? Will it damage ? What brand should I use? Will it show roots? Will it give it a weird texture ?? Is it better if I just don't do anything ?

I prefer manic panic because its cream based so it doesn't damage your hair as much. It's also not very expensive and you can find it at most Sally's. When I do my hair if its not a very pigmented dye (like pink) it can last up to six or seven months.

The Natural Instincts is my favorite. It doesn't damage. In fact, my hair feels and looks better after using it. It will show roots because your hair still grows, but once the 28 days is up, you can redye it. However, if you ever plan on going back to dark brown, don't dye it black. Even with semi permanent dyes, it stains your hair. You can't go back from without bleaching or stripping your hair, which will kill it. Literally.

With a semi color it wont damage your hair as much. Most stylist will suggest a semi or demi when your hair is damaged. A semi only partically penatrates the cuticle which will cause it to fade over time. Wash your hair with cold or cool water after you do it to keep the color longer. Hot water will open your cuticles and the color wont stay. If you are doing it yourself go to sallys beauty supply and use ion color brilliance and use a 10 volume, its healthier for your hair. If you are going to get it done professionally find someone that uses Paul Mitchelle. Paul Mitchelle is an ammonia free color, which is much healthier for your hair. They will use a 10 volume to get it to a semi.
