my mom is screamish about bugs and insects exept butterflies and ladybugs. what can i do?
i captured a beetle and she screamed.

I like the new word "screamish"!
You could show her that butterflies have insect bodies, and it's just the pretty wings that makes her unafraid. Maybe she could look at any other insect and simply IMAGINE it has colorful wings.
A beetle is exactly the same order as a ladybug (aka "lady bird beetle").
If and when you get to the point of handling insects (avoiding of course the ones that sting), and she sees you doing so, she may overcome some of her fears. It's just a short hop from appreciating butterflies and ladybird beetles to appreciating ALL insects and living things, even the dangerous ones (a small minority).

I like "screamish" too.
You can just accept her as she is. Over time, with acceptance, she may ease up on the freakout about bugs.
