If Democrats had done what Republicans did under Bush (crashed the economy, wrecked the federal budget, wasted trillions on botched foreign adventures) and Obama were a Republican, half of his opponents would be in jail or facing charges or forced to resign due to corruption and malfeasance.

You have a selective memory. The Bush administration had a real live criminal investigation. Scooter Libby stonewalled the special prosecutor and got convicted of Obstruction of Justice by a jury of his peers. George W. Bush commuted his prison sentence. We never found out who outed Plame, or what Bush and Cheney knew and when they knew it.
