What role does Geometry play in Cosmology?

I know that physics which includes mathematical formula for varying calculations is used in cosmology and there are other processes that help explain the theories. In times past Geometry was a significant contributor to cosmology (i.e. platonic solids, etc) and I am curious as to whether Geomentry is still used by anyone to understand cosmology. Further, would geometry be utilized within the context of macro-physics or could it be used on the quantum level?

Many modern concepts in cosmology are based on Geometry and mathematics. That geometry is usually analytic geometry. Theory of relativity was seem to be related to prediction of Geometry of universe rather than actual observations carried out. Einstein tried to show how space become curved by existence of matter in universe. This prediction is on geometrical basis. He simply tried to show entire gravitational force within universe by energy-stress diagram.
