Yes it would be pretty suitable.

From Amazon app store you have over 80k apps where you will find most of the famous games like Angry birds, where is my water, Temple run, cut the rope etc.

Email app is there too. You can read or compose email easily.

And Kindle Fire has Dual WiFi antenna which makes streaming and download faster compared to other devices I.e Tablets. So overall it would be a good option.

I suggest you read this Review from an actual user, would help on this decision:

I would suggest that you get something like the Google Nexus or other tablet. The Kindle Fire, while being able to do some of that, would not be my first choice if I wanted to do what you stated.

Don't get me wrong the Fire is nice device, just not what I would want to use for that.

    Hope that helps.

PS: You could also go with the iPad (mini) but I am not an Apple fan... :(

I'm using my Kindle Fire HD now to read and answer your question. I just finished placing some bids on Ebay earlier, checked my email, and am about to watch Netflix on the HD screen with twin Dolby stereo speakers.

I've got a ton of games on my KF-HD, and most of them were free. Pandora gives me free music and I use Skype to keep in touch with friends far away.

Can it replace a laptop? Not really. But it can do much of that a laptop can do at a fraction of the size, weight, and price. BTW, I don't think I could as easily pull out a laptop to check mail, view sports scores, or view Youtube at a restaurant, or while riding passenger in a car.

The Kindle Fire HD has dual antenna WiFi, and is pretty good for web surfing. If you're in the UK, you can find here for some actual user experience on its ability on web surfing, as well as other features:

However, one thing to keep in mind, that games work on PC won't work on the Kindle Fire or other tablets. Tablets have their own set of apps (for gaming, or work), and is different from games or programs on PC / laptop computers. However, some popular games / applications have both PC and tablet versions (e.g. Minecraft, Adobe Reader, etc).

There're over 80K apps on the Kindle Fire. You can do a simple search, to see if the games you want are available.

Well, it's a bit different. Some content of the we bpages may not display correctly on the Kindle Fire. But it's ok for email checking. I don't suggest you use a Kindle Fire for browsing internet.

I used my kindle to answer this and I would recommend consider getting one as they are very fast and can do everything other tablets do i.e play games, browse the web, use Facebook and twitter and if course it's own recognisable feature is the ability to download and read books:)
