How Upset are you over the Xbox One Reveal Conference?
I'm a Playstation fan through and through.
I haven't ever been an Xbox fan, but I long ago abandoned bashing any other console fans, especially Xbox owners. It's stupid, and makes you an a-s-s. I just want gaming to be as fun as it ever was, no matter the console or platform, PC included. We all deserve a little fun in our lives, don't we?
With that being said, I was very disappointed with the reveal of the Xbox One. I feel like they've cheated Xbox owners and enthusiasts in the worst way. Worse, they've pretty much steered away from gaming in favor of connectivity and television, television, television. What's up with that.
How do you feel about the reveal? What do you think they are thinking? Is the new used game policy and lack of backward compatibility a deal breaker for you?
Or... is this all part of "the Plan?"
Talk to me.

Personally (and speaking as both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 fan), I think Microsoft is really shooting themselves in the foot this time around.
Their "big reveal" revealed almost nothing, and raised more questions than it answered. That's my biggest gripe about it right now.
I really don't care much about the lack of backwards compatibility. PS4 won't have that either, in point of fact. And frankly, it doesn't surprise me. The whole idea has only been around since the days of the PS2... Before that, no console played titles from previous generations, and no one expected them to. It's basically an experiment that failed, largely because it added so much to the manufacturing cost of the consoles.
What does aggravate me, though, is Microsoft's attitude towards used games and required internet connections.
I have yet to meet a fellow gamer that likes the idea of not being able to rent a game or loan one to a friend without a huge hassle (and potentially paying an activation fee). Likewise, in spite of what some people claim, used game sales are a benefit to the gaming industry, because most of the money people get from trading in used games goes directly towards buying new ones. Cut out that part of the economy, and you're going to have fewer day-one new game sales overall, because people will wait until the price drops to buy them.
Honestly... the used games thing is the REAL deal-breaker for me. If they really go through with this idiocy, I will not be buying an XBone.
And speaking as someone who is well acquainted with flaky internet connections, I absolutely hate the idea of a console game needing an internet connection to function. I realize that Microsoft themselves are not requiring this, BUT they are actively encouraging game developers to shift more and more game processing to the cloud. We live in a country where less than 60% of the population has high-speed internet, and even those who have it may not always have a reliable connection. Making a primarily single-player game dependent on an active internet connection is just stupid, in my opinion. EA already proved what a horrendous idea it is with the whole SimCity debacle.
And like you said, the whole television integration thing doesn't really impress me... particularly since I cut off my cable subscription ages ago in favor of Roku and I suspect that a lot of features won't work without a cable box. I'm tired of consoles in general (and to be fair, Sony is just as guilty as Microsoft in this respect) trying to be all-encompassing entertainment centers. I buy a console to play games on it. Period. I don't want to surf the internet, I don't want to use it as a stereo, I don't want to watch movies on it, I don't want to watch TV through it, and I sure as hell don't want people interrupting me in the middle of a game to talk to me on Skype.

It's all a part of the plan. That's why HALO is getting a TV show too.
I thought the reveal sucked. I think they thought they love money. Hellyeah the used game policy is a deal breaker for me; that'd even be a deal breaker for the PS4, and I'm a diehard PS fan.
I agree with you that it's messed up to steer away from actual gaming, but then again; PS3s tend to be owned by gamers for their use of playing games, and watching Netflix.
360s tend to be owned by families that use them as media centers, which makes no sense because PS3s make a much better media center.

Ehhhh it could have been better. Personally I'm a Playstation person but I owned a 360 and really enjoyed it. With the Xbox ONE though it seems like they're trying to just get as much money as they can. Like they know people will buy it and pay all the ridiculous fees just because they're Xbox. I only watched to see some gameplay, but ooooo wait....what? They didn't even show any. It was a complete waste of time.

the reveal was focused on the hollywood entertainment side showing how the new kinect can help. which i like the new kinect. i no longer need to find the damn tv remote controller that fallen inside me seat. no ore needing batteries as well to put into a tvremote controller. the kinect will also be used for games. at E3 microsoft will flip things around by focusing on the gaming side and a little recap/ continue talking about the hollywood entertainment side. xbox one is a good deal everything that entertainment is, is gonna be a click to and hand movement away. sony is focused on their games and social media (share gameplay with a single button to facebook. twitter) etc.

It looks really bad i watched the reveal i know it really has nothing to do with xbox but atleast the Call of duty ghosts looks like they are trying some new things, I plan on switching over to PC gaming in about 2 or 3 months.

The Xbox one is the dumbest thing ive seen in a console. I mean the whole you have to have a kinect to turn on the console is ridiculous. it has Useless features, im not going to buy next gen consoles i will continue to play my xbox 360 until they close down servers and when that happens i guess i'll stop playing games altogether

Well I'm very upset because first of they didn't show the freaking gameplay like the ps4 did and there is a rumor that used games are going to have a small fee which is going to be annoying.

For those who missed it, it went like this: TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV YOU CAN WATCH TV ON YOUR TV WHILE PAYING FOR A SERVICE WHILE PAYING FOR A SERVICE. YAY MONEY! Oh? THis is a gaming console? Oh. We were too focused on Tv to show games...
